On Thursday, Tajik authorities reported that three Chinese workers were killed in an attack near the Afghan border. The Tajik foreign ministry said the workers, employed by a Chinese company, were targeted with firearms and a drone loaded with grenades. The attack, which occurred in southern Tajikistan, claimed the lives of all three Chinese nationals.
In a statement issued from Foreign Office on Friday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims and extended solidarity with the governments and people of both China and Tajikistan. The statement described the attack as “cowardly” and highlighted the serious threat posed by the use of armed drones in the incident.

The Foreign Office also noted that Pakistan, having faced similar attacks originating from Afghan soil, fully understands the grief and anguish of both the Chinese and Tajik people. It stressed that Afghan territory should not be used as a base for terrorism against neighbouring countries or the international community. The continued presence of terrorist groups under the protection of the Afghan Taliban regime is a concern not only for the region but also for the wider world.
Pakistan called for concrete and verifiable action against those responsible for planning, supporting, and financing terrorist attacks from Afghan soil. The statement concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with China, Tajikistan, and other regional partners to promote peace, stability, and security in the shared neighbourhood.
