Hindutva Leader Demands ASI Investigation into Ajmer Sharif Dargah
Hindutva Group Asserts Ajmer Sharif as Hindu Temple. The Maharana Pratap Sena, a Hindutva organization has stirred controversy by asserting that the Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Rajasthan is a sacred Hindu temple.
In a letter addressed to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the national president of Maharana Pratap Sena, Rajvardhan Singh Parmar, emphasized their long-standing advocacy for an investigation into the Dargah’s status.
Parmar claimed that despite previous efforts, the Congress government had not taken their claims seriously. He insisted that the Dargah, situated in Ajmer city, is revered as a Hindu temple, not a Dargah. Parmar asserted that the people of Rajasthan support this demand for an investigation.
Calling for a probe similar to those conducted for the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya and the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, Parmar submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, urging the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to investigate the Ajmer Sharif Dargah. He highlighted that their demand for a survey of the Dargah was previously made during the Congress government’s tenure, but no action was taken.

Notably, before the formation of the BJP government in Rajasthan, Parmar had written to former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, demanding a survey of the Dargah by the Archaeology Department. He expressed hope that historical evidence might reveal the existence of a Hindu temple at the site.
The assertion by Maharana Pratap Sena has sparked debate and raised questions about the historical and religious significance of the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, prompting calls for a thorough investigation into its origins.
