Earthquake jolts Islamabad, parts of Pakistan. A 5.3 magnitude earthquake jolted the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi along with various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Wednesday morning.
According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the epicenter of the earthquake was the Hindukush mountain range in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region, with a depth of 220 kilometers.
The tremors were felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, Mohmand, Swat, Attock, Malakand, Mardan, Shangla, Chitral, Upper Dir, Buner, Abbottabad and other KP cities.
Earlier on September 11, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake hits parts of Pakistan, mostly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
The Met Department’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre confirmed that the epicenter of the earthquake was near Dera Ghazi Khan with a depth of 10km.

So far, the country has witnessed at least six earthquakes this year, of which three were in the port city of Karachi, PMD said.
