Mushaal decries Indian Supreme Court decision as ‘Death Sentence’ for Kashmiris

Mushaal Hussein Mullick Raises Alarm on Kashmir Situation at International Human Rights Day Seminar.

Mushaal decries Indian Supreme Court decision as ‘Death Sentence’ for Kashmiris. In a compelling address at a seminar commemorating International Human Rights Day, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Human Rights and Women Empowerment, expressed deep concern over the India Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Mullick characterized the decision as a severe blow akin to a death sentence for all Kashmiris.

The seminar, organized by the Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights in collaboration with the International Islamic University Islamabad, brought together key figures including Mr. Shafique Chaudhry (Executive Director, PCHR), Dr. Raheem Awan (DG Legal Aid and Justice Authority), Dr. Sameena Malik (Rector, IIUI), Dr. Noor Fatima, and Syed Muhammad Anwar.

Mushaal Hussein Mullick underscored the ongoing human rights violations by India in Jammu and Kashmir, shedding light on the shortcomings of the United Nations. She called for the UN to move beyond resolutions and actively pursue their implementation, especially concerning the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Highlighting the 75-year unresolved nature of resolutions related to the region, Mullick urged the international community to break its silence on the alarming situations of genocide unfolding in Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine. She stressed the necessity for global bodies to take proactive measures to address the escalating humanitarian crises in these regions.

Mullick emphasized the profound impact of human rights violations when perpetrated by states, leading to extensive mass killings and even genocide. Drawing attention to the ongoing destruction in Gaza, she pointed out restrictive measures preventing International Aid organizations from entering Gaza, exacerbating severe shortages of essential items like medicine and food.

Contrary to Indian claims of being a secular nation, Mullick argued that the recent decision by the Indian Supreme Court serves as evidence to the contrary. She highlighted substantial challenges faced by minorities in India, making it nearly impossible for them to live freely.

Mushaal Hussein Mullick’s address resonated with participants, urging global attention to the pressing human rights issues in Jammu and Kashmir and emphasizing the need for international intervention to address the crises unfolding in the region.
