Punjab Unveils E-Taxi Program with Easy, Interest-Free Payments. The Provincial government of Punjab has finalized an interest-free electric taxi scheme to promote green transport and create employment. Under phase one, 1,100 electric taxis will be distributed on easy, interest-free installments. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz initiated the E-Taxi Program 2025 to replace fuel taxis with eco-friendly vehicles. Previously, a similar program was announced where Punjab government promised E-Taxi to combat unemployment in November 2024.
Initially, Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan led a review meeting on vehicle models, pricing, and charging points. The scheme targets unemployed youth, enabling them to own and operate electric taxis easily. Moreover, Punjab partnered with Dewan Motors to supply Honri VC20 and VC30 electric vehicles. These EVs offer 200 km and 300 km ranges on a single charge. For this purpose, charging stations will be installed every 3 km in Lahore, expanding across Punjab.
