Punjab, Pakistan introduces e-taxi service to combat unemployment. In an effort to combat air pollution and provide employment opportunities for the unemployed, the Punjabi government has started a new project.
The strategy calls for the launch of an e-taxi service, which would offer electric cars to online taxi drivers at competitive prices. This program seeks to lower emissions while providing drivers with cash incentives.
Details of the plan were provided by Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, who disclosed that a sizable portion of online taxis will be replaced by electric cars (EVs). Drivers will be able to purchase these EVs with either a down payment or simple installment options, making participation easier.
Minister Khan underlined that switching to electric taxis will benefit drivers financially in addition to reducing harmful emissions. Studies show that drivers who switch to electric vehicles could save up to 40% on gasoline expenses.
