Miftah Ismail slams PM for ignoring economic reforms
Former Federal Finance Minister and leader of the Awami Pakistan Party, Miftah Ismail, has claimed that Maulana Fazlur Rehman could become Prime Minister of Pakistan for one and a half years.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman could be PM for 1.5 years: Miftah Ismail. Speaking on a private TV program, Miftah Ismail stated that during talks, there would be no protests or violence, and negotiations are a positive development that should take place. He emphasized that the solution lies in holding elections and seeking the opinion of the people.
Miftah Ismail further said that few politicians in Pakistan hold the stature of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and he could serve as Prime Minister for one and a half years.
The former finance minister also mentioned that while the privatization of PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) could have been possible, the government’s intentions were not aligned with this idea.
He noted that the stock market has risen due to lower interest rates, and it will continue to increase, but the government has no role in this development.
Miftah Ismail criticized the Prime Minister for not imposing taxes or implementing pension reforms, stating that the Prime Minister does not prioritize economic reforms and instead focuses on political gains. He also pointed out that while imports have decreased by 7%, the high tax rates and negative economic indicators will prevent investment growth.
