Thailand introduces E-Visa for foreign nationals in Pakistan & Afghanistan. Starting January 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM (UTC+7), foreign nationals in Pakistan and Afghanistan can apply for a Thai visa through a new online e-Visa platform, marking a significant step toward simplifying the visa application process. The Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad announced that applicants will no longer need to submit their passports or original documents in person, making the process more convenient and accessible.
The new e-Visa system, available at https://www.thaievisa.go.th, aims to streamline visa applications, offering a digital solution for those seeking to visit Thailand. While online payment options are not yet available, applicants will still be required to pay the visa fee at the embassy, located in the Diplomatic Enclave of Islamabad.
In preparation for this change, the embassy will continue to accept in-person visa applications until December 24, 2024, ensuring a smooth transition for all applicants. The move to an online application platform is part of Thailand’s broader efforts to modernize consular services and improve accessibility for travelers in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
For further assistance or inquiries, applicants can contact the embassy via email at consular.isb@mfa.go.th. This initiative not only simplifies the visa process but also demonstrates Thailand’s commitment to enhancing its diplomatic services in the region.
Earlier, Kuwait has temporarily suspended its e-visa program for citizens of 53 countries, including the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, and several European nations, to upgrade and expand the system. The suspension affects travelers who previously relied on the online platform for entry. While the timeline for the upgrade remains unclear, Kuwaiti authorities assure that visitors from these countries can still obtain tourist visas upon arrival. The suspension is part of efforts to enhance the e-visa process and create a more user-friendly experience for international travelers.
