Former Punjab Police SHO arrested over Rs1billion Corruption. The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has arrested a retired sub-inspector of the Punjab Police for having illegal assets worth Rs1 billion, here on Saturday.
The ACE investigation revealed that former sub-inspector Rafique Ahmad, apparently a religious man, amassed property worth crores through illegal farming and corrupt activities during his posting in the Rahim Yar Khan Kache area.
An FIR has been registered against him for corruption and abuse of power while working in the Kacha region – a vast region that covers Punjab and Sindh and criminal gangs active in the riverine areas. Known for its base.
The anti-corruption inquiry further revealed that Rafique had illegally cultivated around 1500 kanals of land. In 2018, he is said to have misused his position to seize 1,384 kanals of waqf land belonging to Hazrat Khwaja Ghulam Farid and cultivated it with the help of other criminals.
It is learned that the accused created benami properties in the name of his son, including a one kanal plot in Rahim Yar Khan Mohalla Islamnagar and a four kanal land worth crores in Kuchi Zaman.
Additionally, he allegedly invested the ill-gotten gains in benami properties and bought four luxury vehicles. Preliminary findings show that Ahmed earned more than Rs 1 billion from these illegal activities.
