UAE Introduces Blue Visa for10-Year Residency to Environmental Contributors. The United Arba Emirates (UAE) has launched the first phase of its Blue Visa, a 10-year residency permit aimed at individuals who have made exceptional contributions to environmental protection and sustainability.
The announcement was made on Tuesday at the World Government Summit 2025.
In its initial phase, 20 sustainable thought leaders and innovators will be granted the Blue Visa, according to the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP).
Designed to recognize and support champions of environmental action, the Blue Visa targets members of international organizations, executives of global companies, members of non-governmental organizations, global award winners, and distinguished activists and researchers dedicated to environmental work.
The Blue Visa is an extension of the UAE’s Golden and Green Residency programs, which were previously launched to attract exceptional talent and investment to the country.
UAE Visa Application Process 2025
The first stage of the application system allows for electronic approval through submissions submitted by relevant government agencies in the areas of sustainability. Applications can be processed through the official ICP website.
Individuals interested in the Blue Visa can apply directly through the ICP platform or be nominated by the competent authorities in the UAE. ICP will provide 24/7 access to the Blue Visa application service through its website and mobile app, subject to the approved terms and conditions.
The launch of the Blue Visa underscores the UAE’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its ambition to become a global hub for green innovation.
