Only State Can Declare Jihad; It’s Not Any Individual’s Right: DG ISPR. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif emphasised that the authority to declare Jihad rests solely with the state, not with any individual or group.
He made these remarks during a special interactive session held in Karachi with representatives from various religious communities and social sectors, here on Sunday.
According to the report, the DG ISPR received a warm welcome and strong expressions of solidarity from all participants, who hailed the opportunity for interfaith and social dialogue.
Speaking on the occasion, General Ahmed Sharif said that followers of all religions in Pakistan are equal citizens and enjoy complete constitutional rights.
The DG ISPR also underlined that national cohesion can only be achieved through equality and harmony among all segments of society.
He firmly stated that ethnic or linguistic hatred stems from ignorance and emphasised that the strength of the nation lies in unity. “No force in the world can defeat us if we remain united,” he added.
He accused India of actively backing terrorism in Pakistan, adding that the Pakistan Army is responding effectively with modern warfare strategies.
Representatives from various communities appreciated the candid exchange and praised the Army’s outreach, expressing their desire to continue such engagements in the future for the sake of lasting national unity.
