The M-5 motorway was closed for traffic from Rohri to Multan.
Dense fog disrupts traffic, Motorways M-4 & M-5 closed due to reduced visibility. In a recent weather update, Pakistan has been covered by a dense blanket of fog, causing significant visibility hazards that have led to disruption in the traffic flow and the closure of multiple key routes and motorways.
Visibility has dropped to alarming levels, affecting traffic flow on major expressways. As confirmed by the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), M-4 and M-5 have each been closed at several points on account of the extreme weather conditions.
The M-5 motorway, which is a primary one linking southern Pakistan, was closed for traffic from Rohri to Multan. Disruption to the maximum number of vehicle users and travelers who tend to take the route will continue along the lines.
Globally, there are scenes where the M-4 motorway is an important bond between Central-Southern linkage; the NHMP also announced the shutting down of heavy traffic from Pindi Bhattian to Multan.
The NHMP spokesperson has advised all commuters to follow the traffic guidelines to ensure their well-being. Additionally, he added that these closures are for the prevention of the risk to commuters and to guarantee the safety of travelers as reduced visibility tames the roads to proceed against speeding vehicles.
Moreover, Motorway police and law enforcement authorities are working together for the optimum direction of traffic flow for passage on safe ways towards respective destinations.
Until then, drivers are advised to witness traffic updates and weather forecasts before setting out and predicting their routes accordingly.
