Retired Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed arraigned in field General Court Martial: ISPR. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has announced that proceedings against retired Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed under the Pakistan Army Act commenced on August 12, 2024, through a Field General Court Martial (FGCM). The charges against Hameed include serious violations of military conduct and the law, including political interference, breaches of the Official Secrets Act, compromising state security, and misuse of governmental authority and resources. The charges also accuse him of causing harm to individuals, undermining the state’s interests, and engaging in activities that could jeopardize national security.
A separate investigation is also underway to probe Hameed’s alleged involvement in violent and disruptive actions related to the unrest in Pakistan, including the events of May 9, 2024. The inquiry seeks to determine his possible collusion with political elements, further exacerbating the turmoil during that period.

In a related update, on September 5, 2024, DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry briefed the media on the Pakistan Army’s ongoing counter-terrorism efforts and internal measures. He highlighted the completion of over 32,000 intelligence-based operations targeting terrorist groups, with a particular focus on eliminating threats posed by groups like Lashkar-e-Islam and Jamaatul Ahrar in the Tirah Valley. Chaudhry reported the success of these operations, with 90 terrorists neutralized and 193 army personnel martyred in the process, underlining the high stakes of the ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
