Punjab Govt unveils ‘Karobar Card’ loan scheme to facilitate small businesses. Government of Punjab, Pakistan, has announced a new initiative called the ‘Karobar Card’ loan scheme, aimed at promoting small businesses in the province. The announcement was made during a meeting in Lahore on Saturday, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The ‘Karobar Card’ Scheme will offer loans between Rs 100,000 and Rs 1 million to small business owners, providing them with much-needed financial support to expand and operate. It is one of the steps taken by the government towards stimulating economic activity, creating jobs, and boosting business growth.
In addition to ‘Karobar Card’, the Chief Minister has released the scheme, ‘Chief Minister Aasan Karobar Financing Scheme’, targeting middle-market businesses in Punjab, that offers the facility to seek loans with a maturity amount of Rs 30 million up to five years.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that these measures are one of the core components of the government’s policy to help the people of Punjab by providing relief in economic matters and through employment. “We want to make this province business-friendly, so small and medium businesses get financial support for growth,” she said.
The loan schemes are part of a wider set of initiatives announced by the Punjab government over recent days. These include the Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme that will provide 100,000 solar systems for electricity consumers who consume up to 200 units per month. They are to be distributed freely, with the installation expected to help alleviate the burden of electricity costs for low-income families and contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions.
Honhaar Scholarship Scheme: This will be another key initiative that will provide 30,000 scholarships to students, especially female and Southern Punjab communities, to further their education at private and public universities. Additionally, 90,000 laptops will be distributed under the Chief Minister’s Laptop and Merit Scholarship Program, which will be provided to the top-performing students from different fields, such as medicine, agriculture, and minority communities.
The government also initiated the Dialysis Card Scheme, providing Rs 1 million for each patient’s treatment to enhance healthcare access in the province.
Maryam Nawaz also discussed the growing problem of AIDS in Multan and called for prompt action to curb the spread of the disease in the region.
These measures show the commitment of the Punjab Government towards enhancing living standards, promoting businesses, and investing in the future of the youth of the province.
