On a yearly basis, August 2024 saw a 12.99 per cent increase in textile exports compared to August 2023, with exports rising to $1.644 billion from $1.455 billion.
Textile exports rise by 5.37 per cent in first two months of FY25. Textile exports in Pakistan saw a 5.37 per cent rise in the first two months of the 2024-25 financial year compared to the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
During July-August 2024, textile exports reached $2.915 billion, an increase from $2.767 billion in July-August 2023.
Several key textile products contributed to this growth. Cotton cloth exports rose by 7.23 per cent, reaching $322.65 million, while knitwear exports grew by 7.15 per cent to $820.58 million.
Bedwear exports increased by 7.61 per cent, bringing in $504.75 million, and towel exports saw a 6.87 per cent boost, reaching $170.77 million. The export of tents, canvas, and tarpaulins also grew by 3.49 per cent, amounting to $19.58 million.
Other significant gains included a 17.85 per cent rise in the export of ready-made garments, which totaled $658.50 million. Art, silk, and synthetic textiles rose by 11.15 per cent to $61.24 million.
Exports of made-up articles (excluding towels and bedwear) increased by 5.10 per cent, totaling $119.39 million. Other textile materials saw a 7.42 per cent increase, with exports reaching $121.45 million.
However, some products experienced a decline. Cotton yarn exports dropped by 45.21 per cent, falling from $201.84 million to $110.59 million, and the export of raw cotton fell completely to zero. Yarn exports, excluding cotton yarn, also saw a decline of 10.54 per cent, dropping from $6.65 million to $5.95 million.
