Sources suggest that a group of three senior players in the Pakistan team has been pressuring PCB officials on behalf of their agent.
Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to make extensive changes to the national team following the T20 World Cup. In an operation dubbed “clean-up,” some players and members of the national selection committee will be replaced based on their performance in the T20 World Cup and previous series. Former Test fast bowler Wahab Riaz is also facing challenges retaining his position, with the National Selection Committee suggesting a change.
Speaking to the media in New York on Monday, Mohsin Naqvi stated that the national team requires major surgery, not minor adjustments. Sources indicate that decisions will be made based on reports from captain Babar Azam, head coach Gary Kirsten, senior manager Wahab Riaz, stunt coach Azhar Mehmood, and the report of former director Muhammad Hafeez.
Muhammad Hafeez has accused players of prioritizing money over teamwork and performance. His report gained significance after tours of Australia and New Zealand. Players such as Azam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Usman Khan, Mohammad Amir, and Imad Wasim are facing challenges retaining their places in the team after the World Cup.

Sources suggest that a group of three senior players in the Pakistan team has been pressuring PCB officials on behalf of their agent. This pressure led to a significant increase in central contract remunerations a few months ago. Surprisingly, the manager of all three players is the same. It is rumored that Shadab Khan is closely associated with these players, putting his position at risk. However, a strong performance from the all-rounder could spare him from being released.
