Australian police described the incident as terrorism and said that one of the dead was the shooter, while the second attacker has been taken into custody.
According to Australian media, an attacker was bravely caught by a citizen who risked his life and snatched his weapon, saving the lives of several people.
Australian media said that this brave citizen has been identified as 43-year-old Ahmed Al Ahmed, who sells fruit at a shop in Sydney and is a father of two children.
According to the report, Ahmed himself was shot twice in the arm while trying to control the attacker. He is undergoing treatment in hospital where his condition is said to be out of danger.
Videos of the incident are also going viral on social media, in which Ahmed can be seen controlling the attacker. Ahmed’s bravery is being praised by users and he is being called a hero in the Australian media.
