Mushaal calls on UN to hold India accountable for war crimes & resolve Kashmir issue

Mushaal condemns global silence as Kashmir turns into graveyard for children. Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the wife of unlawfully imprisoned Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik, has voiced her deep outrage over the international community’s silence regarding the ongoing atrocities committed by Indian forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). She condemned the brutal actions of Indian forces, describing the region as a “graveyard for children.”

Mushaal, who is also the Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organisation, made these remarks while speaking as the Chief Guest at the Human Rights Photo Exhibition held at the Pak-China Centre in Islamabad on Monday. The exhibition was organized by the Human Rights Council Pakistan.

In her address, Mushaal drew a stark parallel between the suffering of children in Kashmir and the ongoing violence in Gaza, saying that both regions had become “graveyards” for the innocent. She expressed her horror at the continued reign of terror unleashed by Indian forces in IIOJK, calling it a systematic campaign of war crimes and ethnic cleansing. “The region has been turned into a slaughterhouse, a killing field,” she stated, adding that these actions were akin to the brutality witnessed in other conflict zones.

Mushaal also highlighted the illegal detention of top Hurriyat leaders, including her husband Yasin Malik, who has been falsely implicated in fabricated cases. Despite these grave human rights violations, she lamented that major international human rights organizations and global powers have remained silent, driven by economic and financial interests.

Speaking passionately, Mushaal called on the international community to take immediate action to halt the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing of both Palestinian and Kashmiri children, who have borne the brunt of these conflicts. “The silence from global powers and human rights organizations is criminal,” she asserted, condemning their failure to address the suffering of innocent children caught in these violent conflicts.

She revealed disturbing statistics about the toll of violence in Kashmir, sharing that 922 children have been martyred in the past 36 years. She further emphasized the failure of child rights organizations to speak out against these atrocities, underlining the tragic reality of a region where children are deliberately targeted by occupying forces.

Mushaal also shared other shocking figures of the human cost of the conflict in Kashmir, noting that since 1989, 2,353 women have been killed, 11,265 molested, and 22,980 widowed as a result of Indian state terrorism. “Women and children are considered non-combatants under international law and are meant to be protected during conflicts. However, in Kashmir and Palestine, this principle has been flagrantly violated,” she said, calling it a gross injustice.

Urging the United Nations and the global powers to take a stronger stance, Mushaal called for accountability for India’s actions in Kashmir and urged a concerted effort to resolve the Kashmir dispute, ending the suffering of Kashmiris once and for all.

As tensions continue to rise in Kashmir, Mushaal’s call for global intervention serves as a reminder of the persistent human rights abuses taking place in the region, particularly against the most vulnerable – children and women. The need for action is urgent, as Kashmir’s long-standing conflict continues to claim innocent lives amid widespread international inaction.
