Pakistan Weather Update: PMD Predicts Rains Across Country. According to the Meteorological Department, a westerly wind system is likely to enter the western parts of the country from tomorrow, which is expected to cause intermittent rains across the country in the next few days.
According to the Meteorological Department, the westerly wind system is expected to strengthen further from December 30 and will engulf the upper and central regions of the country on December 31 and is likely to remain in the upper regions until January 2, 2026.
Balochistan
Due to the westerly wind system, strong winds and thunderstorms are expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Musakhel, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, Chagai, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk and Kharan from tonight to December 31.
Sindh
In Sindh, light rain/snowfall is expected at a few places in Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Thatta, Badin and surrounding areas during the same period.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
During December 30 and January 01, intermittent rain with strong winds and thundershowers is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and Kohat. Moderate to heavy snowfall is also expected in the upper areas.

Gilgit-Baltistan/Kashmir
During December 30 (evening/night) to January 2, intermittent rain and moderate snowfall with strong winds and thundershowers are expected in Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ganchhe, Shigar areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sidhnoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur areas of Kashmir.
Punjab/Islamabad
During December 30 (evening/night) to January 2, intermittent rain with strong winds and thundershowers and snowfall on the mountains are expected in Murree and Gulyat. On December 31 and January 1, heavy rain with strong winds and thundershowers is expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Potohar region, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujarat.
On December 31, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected at a few places in Mianwali, Bhakkar, Sargodha, Khushab, Noorpurthal, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh, Jhang and Sahiwal.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan recorded 73% rise in monsoon rains in 2025.
