The commissioning ceremony of Pakistan Navy ship PNS Khyber was held at Istanbul Naval Shipyard in Turkey. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
According to the ISPR, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf also attended the ceremony. President Erdogan, in his address to the ceremony, described the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey as exemplary.

President Erdogan said that Pakistan is a true and sincere ally of Turkey and the friendship between the two countries will last until the end of time. The Turkish President stressed the need to further promote mutual cooperation in the defense sector.
According to the ISPR, the Naval Chief appreciated the professional services of Istanbul Naval Shipyard and other related institutions. The Naval Chief expressed satisfaction over the strong defense cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey.
The ISPR said that the ties between the navies of the two countries are further strengthening the defense partnership. After the ceremony, the Turkish President visited PNS Khyber and met with the crew. A guard of honor was presented to the Turkish President upon the arrival of PNS Khyber.
The Turkish President and the Naval Chief also discussed the maritime security situation in the region and future joint initiatives of the navies of the two countries.
Earlier, Pakistan Navy launched Fourth Hangor Class submarine GHAZI.
