Pakistan, Tajikistan Agree to Strengthen Cultural, Digital Media Cooperation. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar Saturday said Pakistan places cultural diplomacy at the forefront of its foreign engagement, stressing that digital media had become central to public outreach, fostering cultural understanding and promoting constructive narratives.

Building on this vision, he reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening digital media cooperation with Tajikistan during a meeting with the country’s Minister of Culture Sattoriyon Matlubakhon Amonzoda, who is in Pakistan on a special visit to mark Tajik Cultural Week.

The minister underscored the growing role of online platforms in advancing cultural exchange and constructive narratives, reiterating that cultural diplomacy remains a central priority for Pakistan.

The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, expanding collaboration in digital media and building stronger media linkages, while also highlighting efforts to preserve and promote the shared literary and cultural heritage of Pakistan and Tajikistan.

Both sides emphasized the importance of further strengthening cultural and media ties and deepening people-to-people connections between the two countries.

The information minister congratulated Tajikistan’s Culture Minister on the successful holding of the Pakistan-Tajikistan Culture Week, recalling that the initiative was agreed upon during a meeting between Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to celebrate Tajikistan’s cultural week in Pakistan.

He said initiatives such as the Pakistan–Tajik Cultural Festival serve as a vital platform for strengthening people-to-people contacts and expanding cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The minister noted that Pakistan and Tajikistan enjoyed centuries-old historical and cultural ties, emphasizing that Islamabad attached high importance to cultural diplomacy. The meeting also agreed to finalize formal agreements on cultural cooperation ahead of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon’s expected visit to Pakistan.

The minister said Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s poetry reflects the intellectual harmony and closeness between the peoples of Pakistan and Tajikistan. He added that renowned Persian poets are revered in both countries, underscoring that the two brotherly nations attach great importance to preserving and promoting their shared literary and cultural heritage.

Tajikistan’s Culture Minister expressed gratitude to the Federal Information Minister for Pakistan’s support of the Tajik Festival Week, affirming that Tajikistan would maintain close cooperation with Islamabad in cultural exchanges and the digital media sector. She said that the shared literary and cultural heritage would be showcased to further strengthen bilateral ties.

The meeting was attended by Tajikistan’s Ambassador Sharifzada Yusuf Toir, Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam, Information Secretary Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil, the Director General of the External Publicity Wing, the Director General of the Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications along with other senior officials.

It is pertinent to mention that earlier Pakistan and Libya agreed to boost defense, counter-terrorism cooperation.
