Babar Azam has surpassed former captain Shahid Afridi as the player who has taken the most catches in international matches for Pakistan.
Star Cricketer achieved this distinction by taking the catch of Kusal Mendis in the final of the tri-nation T20 series against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi.
In the final match, Babar Azam took 3 catches and surpassed Shahid Afridi, who took 170 international catches in his career, who took 167 catches in his career.

The first place in the list is former captain Younis Khan, who took 281 catches. The second place is former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, who took 194 catches in his career, while Shahid Afridi moved up from third to fourth.
In addition, Babar Azam has become the fielder to take the most catches for Pakistan in the T20 format by taking 3 catches in the final match of the T20 series against Sri Lanka.
Babar Azam has surpassed Fakhar Zaman to take the first place with 60 catches, while Fakhar Zaman is second with 57 catches and Shoaib Malik is third with 50 catches.
It is pertinent to mention that in February 2025, Babar Azam became fastest Pakistani to reach 6,000 ODI runs.
