Ayesha message came after many rumors spread on social media and in the news, claiming that the show had been banned. Earlier in October 2025, the Islamabad High Court had started looking into a petition asking for the show to be banned. The petitioner said the program promotes obscenity and harms society. After this, the court sent notices to the government, PEMRA, PTA, and other officials. The petitioner also asked the court to tell PEMRA and PTA to monitor online platforms and involve the Council of Islamic Ideology in reviewing digital content.
Even before the show started, the teaser received criticism. Viewers online said the show looked un-Islamic and too similar to Western dating programs. The teaser showed Ayesha Omar enjoying a boat ride in Istanbul and preparing to welcome the contestants to a villa.
Lazawaal Ishq, also called Eternal Love, is filmed in Istanbul and hosted by Ayesha Omar. It is adapted from the Turkish show Ask Adasi and is inspired by the famous Love Island format. The show brings together four Pakistani men and four Pakistani women to live in a villa while cameras follow their daily lives. In Pakistan, dating is often considered socially sensitive, and extra-marital relationships are illegal, which is why the show received strong reactions.
The first episode was released on YouTube on September 29 and quickly gained more than one million views. The show has now aired forty three episodes, and the producers say they plan to release around one hundred episodes in total.
