Mushaal Calls for Global Action on Kashmir at Seminar Honoring 1931 Martyrs. Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organisation and former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, delivered a powerful keynote address at a seminar jointly organized by the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) and Youth Forum Kashmir (YFK). The event paid tribute to the martyrs of Kashmir, particularly those of the 1931 massacre, as enduring symbols of the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination.
In her address, Mullick condemned the grave human rights violations committed by Indian forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), especially in the aftermath of the August 2019 abrogation of Article 370. She highlighted widespread extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions—including that of her husband, prominent Kashmiri leader Mohammad Yasin Malik—along with incidents of torture, demographic engineering, and enforced media blackouts as part of India’s broader strategy to suppress dissent.
Mullick praised Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, describing him as a “beacon of unwavering resolve” whose strategic diplomatic efforts have effectively brought international attention to the plight of Kashmiris. She credited his leadership for exposing Indian atrocities and reinvigorating global awareness of the Kashmir issue.
Calling on the international community to intervene, Mullick demanded accountability from India, adherence to United Nations Security Council resolutions, and immediate steps to uphold the Kashmiris’ inalienable right to self-determination. “This is not just a political issue, but a humanitarian crisis that should awaken the world’s conscience,” she asserted.
Ambassador Jauhar Saleem, President of the Institute of Regional Studies, presided over the seminar. In his remarks, he paid “rich tribute” to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Kashmir cause at all levels.
The event concluded with a renewed call for justice, peace, and a sustained international push for the resolution of the decades-long Kashmir dispute in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
