Army Chief Asim Munir, Iranian Military Chief Agree to Boost Defense, Border Cooperation. Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri, in which they agreed to further strengthen defense ties.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir is in Tehran on a visit to Iran and visited the Iranian General Staff Headquarters.
The Pakistan Army spokesperson said that Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri.
In the meeting, the Pak-Iran military leadership discussed the security situation in the region. The meeting also discussed border security, defense cooperation and economic ties.
According to the ISPR, Pak-Iran defense ties were discussed and during this, it was agreed to further strengthen defense ties, while there was also discussion on converting the Pak-Iran border into an economic prosperity zone. Both sides agreed that these steps will help in regional stability and prosperity.
The Pakistan Army spokesperson said that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was given a warm welcome upon his arrival at the General Staff Headquarters in Tehran. A well-equipped contingent of the Iranian Armed Forces also presented him with a guard of honor.
Earlier, Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, along with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, also met with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei and Iranian President Masoud Pezishkian.
Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is on an official visit to the three friendly countries of Turkey, Iran and Azerbaijan along with the Prime Minister’s delegation.
