UAE Detains Beggar Who Collected 14,000 Dirhams in Just 3 Days. The Anti-Begging Unit of the Sharjah Police General Command has detained an individual found in possession of Dh14,000 (over a million Pakistani rupees), which he had gathered through begging in 72 hours.
According to the Brigadier General Omar Al-Ghazal Al-Shamsi, Director of the Special Tasks Department and Head of the Beggars and Street Vendors Monitoring Team, begging is a negative social and security issue, with individuals exploiting public sympathy for quick and illegal financial gains.
How the Arrest Happened
A concerned citizen reported the beggar to the police after spotting him near a mosque, appealing to worshippers by claiming financial hardship. Upon arrival, police discovered that the suspect was residing in the country illegally and had amassed a large sum of money in just three days.

Key measures include:

- A crackdown on individuals who engage in begging as a seasonal profession, particularly during religious occasions.
