Punjab Police Foils Khawarij Attack at Taunsa Check-Post. A suspected militant was killed as Dera Ghazi Khan police foiled a major terrorist attack at a Jhangi check-post in the Vehova Police Station area of Taunsa district, a border area between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, around 20 to 25 terrorists tried to attack the checkpost with rocket launchers and modern automatic weapons on Sunday night.

The police personnel deployed at the post thwarted the attack with ‘fierce resistance and retaliatory firing’, police said.

Dera Ghazi Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ali Kazmi said that one terrorist was killed in effective retaliation, while the others managed to escape. No police official was injured in the attack.

This is the eighth terrorist attack in the border areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this month.

IGP Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar congratulated the Dera Ghazi Khan Police for thwarting the attack by Khawarji terrorists.

“The post was strengthened with the funding of the Punjab government, and additional personnel, modern equipment, and weapons were provided.”

“The brave soldiers of the Punjab Police are a leaden wall in front of the enemies of the country and nation,” the IGP Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.

Earlier this incident, Punjab police conducted a major operation against criminals in the Katcha area of Rahim Yar Khan, killing two dangerous dacoits.

The deceased Shah Mir alias Meera Kosh and Hakim Kosh were the prime suspects in the killing of 12 police officials in Kacha Machka in 2024.
