COAS Gen Asim Munir says Bannu attack facilitators will be held accountable. According to the ISPR, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has said that terrorist groups including ‘Fitna Al-Khawarij’ are carrying out operations against Pakistan from Afghan soil.
According to the army’s media wing, the army chief visited Bannu where he was received by Corps Commander Peshawar and briefed on the ongoing operations and the overall security situation in the region.
Yesterday, security forces foiled a cowardly attack by terrorists on Bannu cantonment, killing all 16 militants who tried to enter the facility.
However, in the exchange of fire, five soldiers were also martyred while putting up a brave resistance, the army’s media wing said.
The army chief vowed that the planners and facilitators of the heinous attack would be brought to justice soon, adding that targeting civilians had exposed the true anti-Islamic intentions of these terrorists.
General Asim Munir visited the injured soldiers at CMH Bannu, praised their high morale and resilience, and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the civilians who lost their lives in the Bannu Cantt terrorist attack.
Addressing the soldiers in Bannu, the Army Chief appreciated their heroic actions in foiling the nefarious designs of the attackers.
Reiterating the resolve of the army to ensure the security and stability of the state, he said that the brave soldiers neutralized the criminals immediately.
Highlighting the importance of national unity in the war against terrorism, he stressed that the Pakistan Army will leave no stone unturned to ensure the safety and security of the people.
He reiterated that terrorist groups, including “Fitna Al-Khawarij”, are operating from Afghan soil against Pakistan, using foreign weapons in their attacks, which is clear evidence that Afghanistan harbors such elements.
