In a statement on Truth Social, Trump expressed his gratitude for Brown’s service, acknowledging his over 40 years of dedication to the country. Brown, who became the second Black officer to serve in the role of Joint Chiefs chairman after Gen. Colin Powell, was appointed to the position by President Joe Biden in October 2023.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth informed Brown of his removal during a cordial phone conversation while Brown was traveling. Hegseth had previously criticized Brown for allegedly promoting a “woke” military agenda.
