Senate Panel Reviews Grenell’s Tweets, FO Monitors Situation
Richard Grenell Holds No Official US Government Position: FO. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday discussed the tweets of US official Richard Grenell supporting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan.
Foreign Office officials briefed the committee, clarifying that Grenell was not holding any official position in the US government at the time of his tweets. They further stated that he has since deleted all the tweets in question.
The officials emphasized that Grenell remains only a nominee and does not currently hold any official role. “Richard Grenell has no position in the US government as of now. His tweets, which were made in a personal capacity, have already been deleted,” they informed the committee.
The meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs focused on the potential implications of Grenell’s tweets and whether they had any diplomatic significance. The Foreign Office reassured that Pakistan’s diplomatic channels are actively engaged and monitoring the situation.
