Sudan: Drone attack on Saudi Hospital in Darfur kills 67, dozens injured. In a tragic incident in Sudan‘s Darfur region, a drone attack on the Saudi Hospital in the city of Al-Fasher resulted in the deaths of 67 individuals and left dozens more injured. According to foreign news agencies, the hospital’s emergency building was completely destroyed in the attack. No group has claimed responsibility for the assault.
The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has been raging for nearly two years. Since May of last year, the RSF has laid siege to Al-Fasher, but they have been unable to take control of the city due to strong resistance from the Sudanese military.
The Darfur General Coordination of Camps for the Displaced and Refugees, a local social organization, reported that eight people were killed on Friday morning due to artillery fire by the RSF in the famine-stricken Abu Shouk camp.
A few weeks ago, the RSF also launched a drone attack on the emergency unit of the Saudi Hospital. The RSF has access to advanced Chinese-made drones, stationed at Nyala airport under their control, which are capable of aerial surveillance and conducting military strikes.
According to government statistics, 80% of the country’s hospitals have lost essential services due to the ongoing conflict.
