Punjab govt announces plan for 100,000 E-bikes & 50,000 scholarships. Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has announced an ambitious plan to distribute 100,000 e-bikes and 50,000 scholarships to students next year.
According to the details, the announcement was made during a function at Okara University where she also distributed scholarship cheques to students. As a token of appreciation, she was presented with portraits and photographs during the function.
Maryam Nawaz highlighted in her speech that the Talented Students Scholarship Programme is the biggest initiative of its kind in the country’s history. Emphasizing her commitment to education, she said, “I have come here to speak my heart and listen to the students.”
Punjab CM praised the efforts of Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, saying, “He is doing an excellent job. Like a good student, he tolerates criticism but keeps delivering results.” She urged everyone to find the truth in their efforts.
CM Maryam Nawaz announced that next year one lakh students across Punjab will be given e-bikes while this year 30,000 students will be given scholarships which will increase to 50,000 next year. She clarified that these scholarships are not charity but a recognition of the students’ ability and potential.
CM Punjab further revealed plans to establish Okara Medical College by 2025 and announced the arrival of the first batch of laptops under the student assistance scheme. Maryam Nawaz assured that merit was strictly followed in the Talented Students Scholarship Program, adding that no student was asked about their political affiliation nor was any scholarship given on the basis of recommendations.
The event concluded with Maryam Nawaz mingling with the students, taking selfies and interacting with the young women present, which led to a pleasant and a fascinating atmosphere was created.
