Saim Ayub faces injury blow during second South Africa Test. Pakistan‘s in-form batter Saim Ayub faced a major setback at the start of the Second Test Match against South Africa on Friday, leaving off the field after an ankle injury.
A statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that the opening batter Ayub twisted his right ankle during fielding.
“He has gone to hospital for further investigation. Updates will be provided in due course,” the statement read.
The injury came during the opening session of the first day of the final Test at the Newlands in Cape Town when Ryan Rickelton guided the ball into the third wicket in the seventh over.
After Aamir Jamal brought the ball back to save the boundary, the opening batter ran to throw the ball back into the middle but he lost his balance and stumbled backward.
