High-value target among 4 terrorists killed in Balochistan’s Kech: ISPR. At least four terrorists, including a high-value target (HVT), were killed in a military operation in Balochistan’s Kech district, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The intelligence-based operation (IBO) took place on the night between November 12 and 13 in the Balgatar area, where security forces engaged in an intense firefight with the terrorists.
The statement identified the HVT as Sana, also known as Baru, the leader of a terrorist ring responsible for recruitment, particularly for suicide bombers, for the so-called Majeed Brigade in the Kech district. He had been a high-priority target for law enforcement agencies due to his involvement in terrorist activities. Along with Baru, three other terrorists were also killed during the operation.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists, and a sanitisation operation is ongoing in the area to ensure no further threats remain. The military emphasized that the security forces are committed to protecting the peace, stability, and progress of Balochistan, Pakistan in the face of ongoing security challenges.
The operation comes amid an alarming rise in terrorist violence in the region. A recent report by the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) revealed a 90% surge in fatalities from terrorism and counter-terrorism efforts between July and September 2024, with a significant portion of the violence concentrated in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Security forces in the region continue to face challenges from reorganizing terrorist groups, many of whom avoid claiming responsibility for attacks, likely for tactical reasons, according to the report.
