In a statement released on their official X page, PAKPAC expressed confidence that Trump is the candidate best positioned to enhance US-Pakistan relations and promote true democracy in Pakistan. “While we certainly do not agree with the former President on every issue, we believe his leadership can secure the release of all wrongfully imprisoned political prisoners in Pakistan and address the country’s troubling democratic backsliding,” the statement read.
During Trump’s presidency, PAKPAC noted that US-Pakistan relations were notably stronger, citing direct engagement between the Trump administration and Pakistani officials. The organization criticized the current Biden/Harris administration for a perceived lack of commitment to bilateral relations, asserting that the Pakistani government was pressured into a legislative coup against its democratically elected Prime Minister under Biden’s leadership.
“Under the Biden/Harris administration, no significant efforts have been made to secure the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and other political prisoners,” PAKPAC stated. The organization fears that similar policies may continue under a potential Harris presidency, which they believe could further strain relations between the two nations.
