The protests highlight ongoing concerns about safety and justice in educational institutions, with students demanding swift action against the perpetrators of violence.
Students in Pakistan’s most populated region Punjab staged demonstrations in different cities over alleged rape of private college student.
Students of the same college in Okara took to GT Road while students are also protesting outside Punjab Assembly in provincial capital Lahore, demanding justice and arrest of the accused.
The incident, which was denied by victim’s family, sparked outrage among students, who chanted slogans and attempted to block roads. Amid outrage, Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz formed high-powered committee, headed by the chief secretary, to investigate the allegations and report back within 48 hours.
Student bodies also intensified their calls for justice while heavy police presence was deployed around Punjab College to manage the unrest, and patrols continued along GT Road as students sought the release of those arrested and accountability for the alleged crime.

Punjab college case: Father of alleged victim denies rape allegations
LAHORE: The Punjab college rape case takes a dramatic turn with a video surfacing online in which the father of the alleged victim clarifies the rumors surrounding his daughter’s false rape alongside Punjab police hero cop ASP Shahrbano Naqvi.
The father explained that there is no such sinister reason behind his daughter’s hospitalization instead the girl suffered a domestic injury at home, resulting in a back sprain that led to her hospitalization.
Earlier, mass protests erupted in Lahore, as private college students took to the streets to condemn the alleged rape of a student by a security guard. The protest escalated when students started damaging the property demanding justice for the girl.
Addressing the media, he describes that he is surprised by the unnecessary protests and urged students to refrain from sharing his daughter’s pictures online, highlighting the emotional trauma it causes.
“Our daughter is being used as a basis for protests, which has no connection to her,” he asserted. He explained that his daughter had slipped at home, resulting in a back injury that necessitated her admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“We have provided the police with our daughter’s medical reports,” he added, expressing disbelief after viewing footage of the protests concerning his daughter. “Those who have daughters can feel this pain,” he emphasized.
Additionally, ASP Naqvi appealed to the masses to avoid spreading false information, emphasizing that the police would take action and file cases in the event of any incidents affecting women.
CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz has formed a high-level committee to probe the rape incident. Authorities now urge caution against misinformation and unnecessary protests, prioritizing the well-being and privacy of the affected family.
However, people have mixed reactions as to whether the father of the false victim is conveying the truth or just trying to cover the heinous crime.
