Lt Gen Akhtar Nawaz Satti to be appointed FPSC Chairman. According to the sources, Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz Satti is to be appointed as the new chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), a federal agency responsible for recruiting civil servants and bureaucrats.
The appointment decision was approved by President Asif Ali Zardari on the recommendation of Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif.
Lt Gen Satti, a three-star army officer, and recipient of the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) Award, is currently commanding the Multan Corps and will assume the role after his retirement in November.
The position of FPSC chairman had been vacant for a year, hindering the functioning of the Central Selection Board.

FPSC History
The Public Service Commission was set up for the first time under British colonial rule in 1926. After independence, the commission was established in Pakistan in 1947 under the provision of Government of Pakistan Act.
FPSC Functioning
At present, the commission is functioning under Article 242 of the constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It has been provided autonomy under the Rules of Business, 1973 and FPSC Regulations, 1978 in its working.
