Police officers exposed for selling crucial consumer data in Pakistan . A shocking revelation has emerged regarding police investigators being involved in the sale of crucial consumer data.
As per the media reports, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), a notification from the Ministry of Interior has confirmed that 72 investigative officers have had access to telecom consumers’ data.
The PTA sources reported that, following 21 complaints of data leakage, their investigation uncovered that police officers were engaged in the illicit sale of data.
Officers from Balochistan, Punjab and were found to be involved in this scandal. These officers were reportedly selling individual consumer data for between 2500 to 3000 Pakistani rupees, amassing daily earning of approximately 250, 000 to 275, 000 rupees.
When confronted, the implicated officers claimed that their accounts had been compromised as an excuse for their actions.
