ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan is considering a proposal to abolish the Saturday holiday for employees of the federal government.
In this regard, the federal government has asked for recommendations and the final decision on the proposal will be taken later.
If government accepts the consideration then the weekly off of Saturday will be eliminated from July 1, 2024.
Most of the departments under the federal government undertake two holidays in a week.
According to the details, the federal government employees will likely object to the proposal seeking an end of one of the weekly holidays.

Earlier during Shehbaz Sharif’s previous term, the government also considered restoring weekly off on Saturday for government employees.
However, the decision was not implemented as it faced severe resistance as the majority of people were against it.
