ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting rain, windstorm, and thunderstorm activity across various parts of the country in the coming days. According to the PMD, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir are all expected to experience rain, windstorm, and thunderstorm activity, with isolated hailstorms also likely.
Heavy rainfall is anticipated in north Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, posing the risk of flash floods in local streams and nullahs. The PMD has specifically highlighted areas in Balochistan, including Noushki, Chagai, Kharan, Turbat, and Gwadar, as vulnerable to flash floods until April 27. Similarly, regions such as Dir, Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, Kohistan, and Kashmir are at risk of flash floods from April 27 to 29.
Furthermore, the PMD has warned of potential landslides in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan during this period. Additionally, windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning may pose threats to human lives, crops, structures, vehicles, and infrastructure.
While dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country in the last 24 hours, isolated rain-thunderstorm activity was reported in Northwest Balochistan and Parachinar. The recorded rainfall included 03mm in Parachinar and 02mm in Nokkundi, with Quetta receiving 01mm of rainfall. The highest maximum temperatures recorded were 43°C in Dadu, Khairpur, Mohenjo Daro, and Jacobabad.
