Do not recognize Pakistan’s new government, Congress members write letter to Biden. Thirty-one members of the American Congress have written a letter to President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken demanding that the new government of Pakistan not be recognized.
According to international news agencies, the letter bears the signatures of 31 members of the House of Representatives affiliated with the Democratic Party.
The text of the letter written on Wednesday stated that the United States should not recognize Pakistan’s new government until complete, transparent, and reliable investigations are conducted into allegations of election interference.
The letter was signed by the House of Representatives members Greg Kaiser and Susan Wild.
Signatories to the letter include Pramila Jayapal, Rashida Tlaib, Ro Khanna, Jamie Raskin, Ilhan Omar, Cory Bush, and Barbara Lee.

The letter also demands that Pakistan be urged to release individuals detained as a result of political speeches or activities, and American diplomats in Pakistan be instructed to gather details of such cases and play a role in their release.
The letter also states that President Biden and Secretary Blinken should make it clear to Pakistan that if these actions are not taken, Washington could also halt military assistance.
