Rs10.8 decrease will have an impact of over Rs12.7 billion.
NEPRA approves Rs10.80 per unit negative adjustment for KE. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority on Tuesday approved a reduction of Rs10.8 per unit for K-Electric consumers on account of fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for December 2022.
The hearing of KE’s fuel charges adjustment — a system by which the price of electricity is adjusted as fuel prices fluctuate — in NEPRA was presided over by the power regulator’s Chairman Tauseef H Farooqi.
In a statement, the chairman said with the reduction in the power tariff, KE customers will get relief of more than Rs12.7 billion.
In a statement, the NEPRA directed all KE to show the adjustment separately in the consumer’s bills for March.
This shall apply to all consumer categories except:
Lifelines consumers
Domestic consumers who consume up-to 300 units
Agriculture consumers
Electric vehicle charging stations

It was also clarified that the negative adjustment on account of monthly FCA applies to domestic consumers having Time of Use (ToU) metres irrespective of their consumption level.
FCA is based on changes in the global prices of fuel and is passed on to consumers under the prescribed rules and regulations of NEPRA and the government of Pakistan.
The recommendation proposed by the power distribution companies is approved by NEPRA after a thorough review of the data provided for a month during which the fuel charges were recovered from the consumers.
NEPRA cuts power tariff by Rs2.32 for XWDISCOS
Meanwhile, the power regulator slashed FCA for all ex-Wapda distribution companies (XWDISOCS) by Rs2.32 per unit.
The statement released by NEPRA revealed that the CPPA submitted a request for a negative adjustment of Rs2.20 per unit under FCA for XWDISCOs.
The power regulatory authority has directed all XWDISCOs to show the said adjustment separately in the consumer’s bills for March.
This will apply to all consumer categories except Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and lifeline consumers of all XWDISCOs.
