NDMA Issues Landslide & Flood Warnings as Monsoon Spell Continues. NDMA’s NEOC has issued a landslide alert due to upcoming monsoon rains in northern Pakistan. Pakistan has already recorded 73% increase in monsoon rains in 2025. Thus, the advisory reflects the emergency situation across the country.

Isolated rainfall is expected in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Diamir, Ghanche, and surrounding regions. Azad Jammu & Kashmir areas like Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Haveli, Bagh, and Poonch may also receive rainfall.

Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially Chitral, Dir, and Kohistan, is likely to face widespread heavy rain. The monsoon rain may trigger landslides, mudslides, and rockfalls in mountainous and unstable areas. High-risk points include Kolai Palas, Lower Kohistan, Upper Kohistan, and Tatta Pani along the RD route.

Danger zones also include Jaglot, Nagar, Hunza, Rondu, and Skardu, particularly near the JSR region. Chitral’s mountainous terrain faces a serious threat of weather-triggered slope failure.

NDMA urges PDMAs, rescue agencies, and local bodies to activate emergency response systems. Response teams, machinery, and rescue equipment must stay on standby for quick deployment.

Authorities must coordinate locally to prevent disaster and protect communities. Public safety depends on timely alerts and rapid response from all concerned agencies. Residents and tourists should avoid unstable slopes and non-essential travel in these regions. Vigilance during this high-risk monsoon period is critical for preventing loss of life.
