“From Burhan to Yasin, each martyr and political prisoner represents the unbreakable spirit of a people who refuse to bow to tyranny,” she declared.

Mushaal Honors Burhan Wani, Calls for Global Action on Kashmir. In a solemn and emotionally charged gathering, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organisation and wife of jailed Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Mohammad Yasin Malik, paid heartfelt tribute to Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani on his 9th martyrdom anniversary. The event, attended by political leaders, diplomats, lawyers, Hurriyat leaders, activists, and members of civil society, underscored the unwavering struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Addressing the participants, Mushaal Mullick described Burhan Wani as a “symbol of fearless resistance” whose martyrdom on July 8, 2016, sparked a renewed wave of defiance against Indian military occupation. “Burhan Wani’s blood has nourished the soil of Kashmir with a resolve that will never fade. His legacy lives on in every voice raised for freedom,” she said.

Mullick condemned ongoing human rights abuses in IIOJK and called for immediate international intervention to stop what she described as a “genocide” in the region. She also drew attention to the continued incarceration of her husband, Mohammad Yasin Malik, whom she called a “prisoner of conscience,” detained on politically motivated charges. She urged the global community to push for his release and demanded a United Nations-supervised plebiscite in Kashmir.

“From Burhan to Yasin, each martyr and political prisoner represents the unbreakable spirit of a people who refuse to bow to tyranny,” she declared.

The event also honored the Pakistan Armed Forces, particularly their role in Operation Bunyan Marsoos, which, Mullick noted, played a decisive role in defending Pakistan’s sovereignty. She praised the military’s leadership and sacrifice, stating, “Operation Bunyan Marsoos stands as a proud chapter in our history. Our Field Marshal, General Syed Asim Munir, and the brave soldiers of Pakistan are guardians of our peace and pride. I salute their sacrifices in securing our homeland.”

Mullick called on Pakistan to intensify its diplomatic and advocacy efforts for Kashmir on the international stage. She urged India to grant unfettered access to international human rights observers in IIOJK and reaffirmed her commitment to amplifying the voices of the oppressed.

“The blood of our martyrs demands freedom, not silence,” she concluded. “We will not rest until the people of Kashmir attain the justice and dignity they deserve.”
