Mushaal raises alarm on unmarked graves & impunity-driven violence in IIOJK.

SAPM to Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, Mushaal Hussein Mullick has delivered a powerful message at the Kashmir Conference in Islamabad, shedding light on India’s consistent hindrance to a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue.
The event was organized by the Human Rights Council of Pakistan to mark International Human Rights Day, focused on the violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the role of the United Nations.
During her speech, Mushaal passionately advocated for a fair trial for her husband, Kashmiri Hurriyat Leader Mohammad Yasin Malik, she emphasized that Indian Prime Minister Modi’s election narrative hinges on the imposition of a death sentence on Yasin Malik.
Mushaal urged global attention to two reports by the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights in 2018 and 2019, calling for action to halt India’s human rights violations in IIOJK. Expressing deep concern over restricted access for international human rights observers, she lamented the information blockade imposed by India, preventing the true extent of abuses from reaching the international community.

Highlighting the severity of the on-ground situation in IIOJK, Mushaal asserted that it exceeds the reported accounts. She expressed distress over the prevalence of unmarked graves in the region, symbolizing the grim reality faced by Kashmiris. According to her, India’s actions go beyond political disputes, with families waiting for the bodies of their loved ones as a result of impunity-driven violence.
In a poignant statement, Mushaal accused India of employing rape as a weapon against women, men, and children, emphasizing the need for global awareness and intervention to address the grave human rights violations in IIOJK. The Kashmir Conference served as a platform to amplify these concerns and advocate for justice, shedding light on the plight of the Kashmiri people.
Mushaal highlighted the shortcomings of the United Nations, an institution initially created to peacefully address global conflicts such as those in Kashmir and Palestine. She expressed disappointment, asserting that the UN has not been successful in compelling India to adhere to its own passed resolutions and human rights conventions in Jammu and Kashmir. She also demanded the representation of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in the UN General Assembly, underscoring the importance of amplifying their voices on the international stage.
Mushaal underscored the pivotal role of youth in the success of any movement. She advocated for the creation of dedicated Kashmir cells within educational institutions to provide comprehensive education and awarness to the youth on the complex issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, she proposed the establishment of a government-level legal body to advocate the just cause of Kashmir in international courts. Mushaal expressed that the ongoing journey of the Kashmir struggle requires collective ownership at every level.

Mushaal highlighted the teachings of Islam, emphasizing its core principles of upholding human rights regardless of creed and color. She pointed out that Islam strictly prohibits the killing of non-combatant civilians and the destruction of crops, plants, and properties, even in the midst of a battle.
