The National Database and Registration Authority NADRA has rolled out a fresh update to its Pak Identity mobile app. NADRA appointment bookings would now be available on PAkID app. These updates have made citizens talk about what it means for their everyday paperwork. Fewer office visits and faster processing is promised to the citizens.
Alongside the app update, NADRA has also opened new job opportunities this month.
A Smarter PakID App With New Features
On September 1, NADRA released version 5.7.4 of its PakID mobile application, and it is packed with additions that citizens have been asking for. The update focuses heavily on reducing the need to physically visit NADRA offices, something that has frustrated citizens for years.
One of the standout features is new FIA section built directly into the app. Once the Federal Investigation Agency finalizes its side of the setup, users will be able to file complaints online and track their progress without stepping into an office. NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali explained the thinking behind this move in a video message, noting that the updated app included services “designed to make identity related processes more convenient for citizens.”
That is not the only improvement worth mentioning. The app now allows users to add missing family members directly when a Family Registration Certificate has incomplete information, something that previously required extra paperwork and office trips. There is also a small useful addition the automatic signature cropping. People struggled to manually edit a signature image before submitting an application but now things got easier.
NADRA has designed several of these updates with expats in mind, making it easier for overseas to manage identity documents and family records without needing to visit a Pakistani consulate or wait for a trip back home.
Why These Changes Matter for Everyday Pakistanis
For most citizens, NADRA is not just a government department. It is the keeper to almost every major life process from opening a bank account to applying for a passport. So when the app that manages these services gets an upgrade it genuinely affects daily life for millions of people.
Digital access to identity documents through the app also means less reliance on carrying physical copies everywhere. Combined with the new FIA complaint system this update reflects a broader pattern in Pakistan’s push toward digitizing public services, something multiple government departments have been working on throughout the past year.
The CNIC fees themselves have not changed with this update. Normal processing for a new Smart CNIC still generally falls in the range most citizens are already familiar with, with urgent and executive categories costing more for faster turnaround. This latest release focuses purely on features and convenience.
Other NADRA News Making Rounds This Month
Beyond the app NADRA has also been active on the hiring front this September. The organization announced walk-in tests and interviews for Junior Executive and Naib Qasid positions in Balochistan, with testing scheduled to run from September 14 through 16 at the Regional Head Office in Quetta.
NADRA’s Head Office in Islamabad has also opened applications for more senior roles, including an Assistant Director position within its Legal department. That application window closes on September 20. The interested candidates are being directed to apply exclusively through the official NADRA careers portal.
NADRA continues to describe itself as one of Pakistan’s largest and most technology driven public institutions, and this month’s activity certainly supports that description.
For citizens keeping an eye on NADRA, these new updates and PakID features would definitely help them. But whether these changes fully deliver on their promise will likely become clear once the FIA complaint feature goes fully live in the coming weeks.
