Ayesha Omar Reveals First Look of Mera Lyari, Describes Film as a Passion Project. Famous Pakistani Actress Ayesha Omar has officially begun building excitement for her upcoming film Mera Lyari by sharing its first look on social media. The newly revealed covers give audiences their first glimpse of the project, which is expected to hit screens soon.
The first cover features Ayesha Omar alongside Dananeer Mobeen, followed by individual character posters highlighting Samiya Mumtaz, Nayyer Ejaz, Adnan Shah Tipu and Sania Sohail Khan. The visuals are calm and serious, suggesting a realistic and grounded story rather than a flashy one.

While sharing the covers, Ayesha Omar expressed how deeply personal the film is for her. She described Mera Lyari as her first creative “baby,” saying it came after years of hard work, dedication and emotional investment.
The timing of the film is especially important. Mera Lyari is being seen as a response to the recent Indian film Dhurandhar, which caused outrage in Pakistan for showing Lyari as a dangerous and violent area. Many officials and critics said the portrayal was unfair and promoted negative stereotypes.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon had earlier said that Mera Lyari would tell the real story of Lyari, focusing on its peace, culture and pride. He criticised Dhurandhar and stressed the need for Pakistan to tell its own stories through honest and authentic films.
Mera Lyari is written and directed by Abu Aleeha, known for Taxali Gate, and is executive produced by Ayesha Omar under her production banner Hawksbay Productions. The cast includes Dananeer Mobeen, Samiya Mumtaz, Nayyer Ejaz, Trinette Lucas, Paras Masroor, Adnan Shah Tipu and Shoaib Khan.
Meanwhile, the controversy around Dhurandhar continues to grow. Reports suggest the film was not allowed to release in several Gulf countries due to its anti Pakistan themes. In Karachi, a constitutional petition has also been filed, accusing the film of using PPP flags, rally footage and the image of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto without permission. The petition claims the party was shown as being sympathetic to terrorists.
The family of Shaheed SP Chaudhry Aslam Khan has also raised serious objections. His widow, Noreen Aslam, said the trailer misrepresents her late husband and warned of legal action if his legacy is damaged.
Against this tense backdrop, Mera Lyari is expected to highlight the area’s culture, strength and everyday life, challenging the long standing image of Lyari as a place of violence. Although the story details have not yet been revealed, the first posters make it clear that the film aims to reclaim Lyari’s true identity and tell its story with honesty and respect.
It is pertinent to mention that India’s $60 billion Bollywood film industry is facing a serious reputational crisis due to fake film reviews and artificial box office claims.
