On Tuesday, Director General of Frontier Works Organization (FWO) Major General Abdul Sami met Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi to review progress and clear any delays.

Rail Link Will Reduce Costs

Hanif Abbasi confirmed that Thar’s coal will soon reach power plants across the country through this rail line. He said, “Thar’s affordable and indigenous coal will now move directly to power plants.” As a result, power producers will spend less. Using local coal will cost just Rs. 4.7 per unit, while imported coal power costs Rs. 15 per unit.

Project on Fast Track

The FWO promised to complete the project by next year. They are importing rails and key tools but making sleepers at home to support local industry. Now that surveys are done, crews can start the next construction phase without delays.
