Faysal Bank, one of Pakistan’s top Islamic banks, has launched the country’s first Inclusive Communication Guide. Developed in partnership with the Centre of Excellence in Responsible Business (CERB) under the Pakistan Business Council, this landmark resource sets a new standard for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in workplaces.
At a launch event in Karachi, business leaders, DEI advocates, industry experts, and inclusion partners gathered to mark this milestone. Together, they celebrated a shared goal: creating work environments where every voice is respected. To ensure wider reach, the Faysal Bank Inclusive Communication Guide is available in both English and Braille, making it accessible for people with visual impairments as well.
Importantly, the guide offers practical advice for staff at all levels. It encourages employees and leaders to use respectful and thoughtful language when engaging with diverse groups. By doing so, it helps remove biases that can exclude women, persons with disabilities, and marginalised communities. This effort reflects Faysal Bank’s broader vision of driving real change and building a workplace culture rooted in belonging and equal opportunity.
Speaking at the event, Yousaf Hussain, President & CEO of Faysal Bank, highlighted the role of language. He said, “Inclusion begins with language. The words we choose reflect our values and shape our culture. This guide is not just a policy; it is our promise to communicate with empathy and make sure everyone feels seen and heard. We hope it becomes a valuable resource for businesses across Pakistan.”
Meanwhile, Ehsan Malik, CEO of the Pakistan Business Council, praised the launch. He emphasised that inclusion is now a business necessity, not just a buzzword. According to him, this guide sets an example for others to follow and adapt.
Overall, the Faysal Bank Inclusive Communication Guide marks an important step in the bank’s DEI journey. By sharing this tool openly, Faysal Bank hopes to inspire other companies to adopt similar inclusive practices and help shape a more accessible corporate culture in Pakistan.
