PCB Demands ICC Clarification on Anthem Error
PCB Protests Over Playing of India’s National Anthem During Australia-England Match. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged a formal protest with the International Cricket Council (ICC) after India’s national anthem was played before the Australia-England match in the ongoing tournament.
According to sources, during the match between Australia and England, India’s national anthem was mistakenly played before England’s anthem. Following India’s anthem, the anthems of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were also played. After a brief sequence of these anthems, the England and Australia national anthems were played as scheduled.
The PCB has raised concerns with the ICC, stating that this error occurred in an ICC-managed event. The ICC is responsible for creating the playback list for the national anthems, and since India is not scheduled to play any matches in Pakistan, its anthem should not have been included.
The PCB has formally demanded that the ICC provide an official clarification regarding this serious mistake.
This incident follows a similar protest by the PCB over the absence of Pakistan’s name on the broadcast logo during the India-Bangladesh match. The ICC had later acknowledged that error.
